42 Years Ago Today – Allman Brothers Start Five Week #1 Run With ‘Brothers and Sisters’ (Check “Southbound” Live”)

42 years ago today (9/8/73) The Allman Brothers started a five week run at No.1 on the US album chart with ‘Brothers And Sisters’, the group’s only US No.1.  Following the deaths of founding members Duane Allman and Berry Oakley, The band carried on, adding new members Chuck Leavell on piano and Lamar Williams on bass. The entire seven tracks on the album are winners including classics “Jessica,” “Southbound,” “Ramblin Man,” “Wasted Words” and “Come and Go Blues.”  Check out this live video of “Southbound” live from the Grand Opera House in Macon, GA in 1973.
