45 years ago today (6/2/78), Bruce Springsteen released his fourth album Darkness on the Edge of Town. Darkness is considered by many to be one of rock’s greatest records and proved Springsteen was a career artist following his breakthrough Born To Run. Though the album failed to generate any substantial hit singles (“Prove It All Night” made it into the Top 40 in the U.S. at No. 33 and follow-up “Badlands” just missed at 42), there is hardly a tad of filler on the album.
