50 Years Ago Today – Bobby Womack’s ‘Across 110th Street’ Soundtrack Was Released

50 years ago today (12/16/72), the soundtrack for Across 110th Street was released. Led by Bobby Womack’s righteously soulful funky title track, the rest of the songs were penned by Womack while the score was composed and conducted by J.J Johnson. The mood is urban, gritty, and full of blaxploitation 70s funk- an overlooked classic until Quentin Tarantino used the title track in 1997’s Jackie Brown. Check out the tune below…
