50 Years Ago Today- Montrose Releases Debut Album

50 years ago today (10/17/73), Montrose released their self-titled debut album. Led by the young Sammy Hagar on vocals and Ronnie Montrose on guitar. Featuring two relatively well-known singles (“Rock Candy” and “Bad Motor Scooter”), the debut proved highly influential for many late ’70s hard rock bands including Van Halen, while Iron Maiden recorded “Space Station #5” as the B-side of the single “Be Quick or Be Dead” in 1992.
