50 years ago today (7/28/72), Mott The Hoople, released their most well-known song “All The Young Dudes.” As the story goes, David Bowie heard the Ian Hunter-fronted band might be on the way to breaking up, so he lent them a pretty good song he had written and the results proved formidable. The song was a commercial success, peaking at No. 3 on the UK Singles Chart and No. 37 on the US Billboard Hot 100. The Mott the Hoople titled their fifth album after the song, which was produced by Bowie.
