50 years ago today (5/4/73), Yes released its first live album Yessongs. Culled from two different tours and featuring the transition between the departure of original drummer Bill Bruford, who was “stolen” by Robert Fripp to join King Crimson, and the sudden arrival of Plastic Ono band drummer Alan White, Yessongs’ triple gatefold vinyl covering songs from their most recent release “Close To The Edge” as well as cuts from their albums Fragile and The Yes Album features iconic scenery by legendary album artist Roger Dean and clocks in at a robust 129 minutes of live music of a band at its absolute peak. A concert film culled from the same shows was subsequently released in March of 1975 and became a staple of “Midnight Movies” for years to follow. Check out the classic live album in full…
