65 years ago today (2/20/58), early rock legend Buddy Holly released his self-titled solo debut album. Although his first release was released under the title The “Chirping” Crickets, Buddy Holly featured The Crickets as Buddy’s backing band as well. The album (featuring the artist without his signature eyeglasses) hosted Buddy’s four hit singles released on the Coral label; “Words of Love”, “Peggy Sue”, “I’m Gonna Love You Too”, and “Rave On!” Buddy would only go on to release one more album during his lifetime 1958’s That’ll Be The Day.
