65 years ago today (3/23/56), Elvis Presley released his self-titled debut LP– yes, the iconic one with the green and pink typography. The album was recorded at RCA Victor Studios in Nashville, TN and additional material originated from sessions at Sun Studio in Memphis. The album spent ten weeks at number one on the Billboard Top Pop Albums chart in 1956, the first rock and roll album ever to make it to the top of the charts, along with becoming the first million-selling album of that genre. Clearly, Elvis soon to be The King – was on his way to places based on this debut. Check out the rockin’ “I Got A Woman” off this big statement..
