70 Years Ago Today – Bass Legend Jaco Pastorius Was Born

70 years ago today (12/1/51), the late Jaco Pastorius was born. The eclectic bass player, best known for his work with Weather Report from 1976 to 1981, as well as work with artists including Joni Mitchell, Pat Metheny, and his own solo projects offered a unique technique and use of harmonics that were purely original and brought forth a new legion of listeners to the jazz genre. Pastorius lost his life tragically on 9/21/87 but his life story was recently brought to the big screen in the form of Robert Trujillo’s biopic JacoWatch Jaco take on “Dolphin Dance”
