70 years ago today (12/8/47) the late Gregg Allman was born. Allman was referred to as a Southern rock pioneer and received numerous awards, including several Grammys. The singer-songwriter and rock n’ blues pioneer who founded The Allman Brothers Band with his late brother, Duane provided a voice quite like none other and lent his lead vocals to a majority of the band’s catalog. Following a series of health problems, including hepatitis C and a 2010 liver transplant, Allman died at his home in Richmond Hill, Georgia, on May 27, 2017, due to complications of liver cancer.
