90 Years Ago Today – The Late Andy Warhol (Velvet Underground Manager) Was Born – (Watch Live VU/Nico ’66 Clip)

90 years ago today (8/6/28), the late artist Andy Warhol was born. The founder of the Pop Art movement, produced and managed the Velvet Underground, designed the 1967 Velvet Underground And Nico ‘peeled banana’ album cover and The Rolling Stones Sticky Fingers album cover. The pop artist and producer died after a gall bladder operation at age 58.

Check out this clip of Warhol directing The Velvet Underground and Nico in 1966 as part of his Exploding Plastic Inevitable multimedia event tour, which gained attention for its experimental performance sensibilities and controversial lyrical topics, including drug abuse, prostitution, sadism and masochism and sexual deviancy.
