Happy 60th birthday today to Sonic Youth guitarist/founder Thurston Moore who was born on 7/25/58. Although Sonic Youth has split up following the dissolution of his marriage to Kim Gordon, Moore has participated in many solo and group collaborations outside of Sonic Youth, as well as penning five solo albums and forming Chelsea Light Moving and running the Ecstatic Peace! record label. One of the most inventive guitarists ever, Moore was ranked 34th in Rolling Stone‘s 2004 edition of the “100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time. Watch Moore and Sonic Youth perform live in Atlanta ’87.
