Happy 70th birthday today to the pioneer of heavy metal bass playing – Geezer Butler who was born on 7/17//49. The Black Sabbath founding member’s contributions to rock and metal are endless while it must be noted that Butler wrote the majority of Black Sabbath’s lyrics during the Ozzy Osborne era- helping to contribute to the band’s black and gloom imagery. Butler has also recorded and performed with Heaven & Hell, GZR, and Ozzy Osbourne. He currently serves as the bassist of Deadland Ritual.
