Happy 80th birthday today to Richard “Dickey” Betts –the founding member/guitarist/co-vocalist of the Allman Brothers Band who composed some of the band’s most indelible songs including “Jessica,” “In Memory of Elizabeth Reed,” “Ramblin’ Man” and “Revival.” Betts was ousted from the band in 2000 and doesnt play live anymore, but his songs and tone live on with his son Duane and his various projects including Allman Family Revival.
