Happy 84th birthday today to vocal legend Mavis Staples who was born on 7/10/39. Mavis recorded and performed with her family’s band The Staple Singers who scored two No.1 singles, ‘I’ll Take You There’ and ‘Let’s Do It Again’. Staples has also enjoyed a career renaissance in the last decade with a number of solo albums produced by Jeff Tweedy and her most recent release – 2019’s We Get By, produced by Ben Harper.
