Steve Earle & The Dukes Perform “You’re The Best Lover That I Ever Had” at Electric Lady Studios

Directed by Alex Peacock and filmed at the famed Electric Lady Studios in New York, the video captures a spirited live performance by Earle and his longtime band The Dukesas they perform the shuffling blues number that Rolling Stone described as a reworking of “the grit and groove of Howlin’ Wolf’s ‘Smokestack Lightning’ into his own bittersweet tribute to a departed lover.” The video was recorded the same day that Earle performedTerraplane later that evening for a packed crowd and transformed Jimi Hendrix’s Greenwich Village studio into a sweaty Texas juke joint.
