I’ve seen a number of amazing performances thus far in 2013, but last night’s Freaks Ball XIII finale at Brooklyn Bowl featuring the debut of Joe Russo’s Almost Dead takes the cake as the best one yet. Russo and Scott Metzger, Tom Hamilton, Marco Benevento and Dave Dreiwitz offered a powerful, hard-nosed interpretation of the Grateful Dead’s music over two sets at the sold out venue.
