Couch Tour: Ustream To Webcast Bonnaroo & Outside Lands

Superfly Presents has teamed with YouTube to webcast the last few Bonnaroo festivals and Outside Lands in 2009, so we were surprised to see that the event organizer has turned to Ustream to simulcast their two biggest events – Bonnaroo and Outside Lands. Ustream will broadcast the events through its website as well as through the Ustream mobile app and mobile website.

This is particularly good news for those who can’t attend Outside Lands as there was just an audio-only webcast available last year and none in 2011 and 2010 for the San Francisco-based event.

Ustream has big plans for the webcasts…

Music fans anywhere in the world will now have the ability to personalize their viewing experience by choosing from unique content across multiple stages, as well as candid fan views from Ustream’s Mobile Mob. Ustream’s Mobile Mob is a new grassroots approach that will empower selected festival attendees to share their unique experiences with other fans, live, via their mobile devices.

“This year, fans will be granted never-seen-before, live access to two of the most important festivals in the U.S. — even in the palms of their hands via mobile devices,” said Chris Blocker, senior vice president of sales and business development for Ustream. “The mix of premium and fly-on-the-wall content powerfully illustrates how bands can become fans and fans can join bands in a seamless social entertainment experience such as this.”

Bonnaroo takes place down on the farm in Manchester, Tennessee from June 13 – 16, while Outside Lands takes place in San Francisco, California’s Golden Gate Park on August 9 – 11. Veteran producer and audio engineer Hank Neuberger has been tapped to orchestrate Ustream’s multi-camera shoots at both events. Expect the schedules to drop a few days before each festival.
