Phish front man Trey Anastasio’s first foray into Broadway may not have been a success at the box office, but he’s doing just fine on the Awards Season front. Not only is he up for Outer Critics Circle and Drama Desk Awards, today he scored a nomination for the big prize – A Tony Award.
Hands On A Hardbody, which features music penned by Trey Anastasio and Amanda Green, has been nominated in the Best Original Score (Music and/or Lyrics) Written for the Theatre category. The shuttered musical also saw actress Keala Settle and actor Keith Carradine score Tony noms.
The Tony telecast will air on CBS June 9th at 8PM ET.
In other Phish news, JamBase.com has details of a new LivePhish release.

Congrats Trey!
Also noteworthy: Hands on a Hardbody was nominated for 9 Drama Desk Awards (tied for first for the most nominations). The Drama Desk Awards are also fairly prestigious. Hopefully they pick a few up!

(as reported by HT: https://glidemag.wpengine.com/hiddentrack/trey-anastasio-up-for-multiple-drama-desk-awards/ ooooops!)
As one of the lucky few to see HoaH before it closed, I give mad props to Keala Settle. She stole the show and deserves the recognition. I hope she wins!! (not that I don’t hope Trey wins, but the nomination is already an honor in that case, where Keala really has a shot, imo).
Didn’t get to see it but really happy for Trey with all the hard work he put in.
