Video: Rose Windows – Wartime Lovers

The term psychedelic seems to get thrown around a little too liberally these days. On the short list of up and coming bands that are truly doing it the right are Tame Impala, White Denim, Unknown Mortal Orchestra and Rose Windows. The meaty seven-piece band plays a heady brand of acid-drenched folk-rock that draws influences from the heyday of psychedelic music, channeling the likes of the Incredible String Band, Jefferson Airplane and Black Sabbath. The septet features ethereal vocals courtesy of lead singer Rabia Shaheen Qazi, while the band draws you in thanks to middle eastern ragas mixed with beefy organ, propulsive drums and droning stoner-rock guitar leads.

Late last month the Seattle-based band released their full-length debut The Sun Dogs via venerable indie-label Sub Pop, and have recently teamed up with the folks at Fool’s Road for their first music video for the track Wartime Lovers. The traveling music video project has teamed up with seven bands with the goal of planning and shooting a video within only a few days of having met.

Rose Windows have a handful of tour dates scattered throughout the summer, which includes a string of shows opening for like-minded band SUUNS in September.
