Stormy Mondays: The Not Electric Slide

Here’s a fun and lively acoustic mix for the dog days of summer…

DogDays

Let’s go through the tracks: Dance Dance Dance is the set closer from Neil Young’s Live at Massey Hall archival release — it’s the rowdiest thing on that disc — and One More Day is the opening track from The Wood Brothers’ Ways Not To Lose. Incidentally, Oliver and Chris are working on a follow-up album, and the new material is more aggressive and even finds Chris singing lead.

Blue Jeans Pizza comes from moe.’s surprise acoustic set at the Electric Factory in Philly back in February — they had been performing a slew of in-store acoustic sets to support The Conch, but this was the only set at an actual concert. The playful pair of covers, One > Take Five, is from Rodrigo y Gabriela’s Live in Dublin album that was never released stateside, and Stealin’ comes from that old staple Shady Grove. The long stomp of Living in the Country is from the final date of Leo Kotke and Mike Gordon’s first major tour, some truly stunning playing. And the final track comes from The Slip’s Aliveacoustic disc, which is still one of their best releases.
