Deep in the Heart: Austin, Here We Come

The time hath finally arrived, and I’m about 10 minutes from classifying myself as “officially en route to Austin City Limits.” This trip marks my inaugural jaunt to the annual festival and my first return to the state of Texas since eighth-ranked Nebraska romped my beloved Northwestern Wildcats 66-17 in the 2000 Alamo Bowl. My rallying cry for this trip? Remember the Alamo Bowl. I actually have no idea what that means considering the Alamo is a good 80 miles from my hotel.

ScottyB will guide you through the rest of the Hidden Track workday and on into the weekend, and I’ll begin posting daily (maybe twice-daily, we’ll see how it goes once we get there) some time tomorrow with live dispatches from the Texas capital. Anyway, this post serves as your reminder to check back early and often to see what’s happening down in Austinmassachusetts. Our main man Danfun from Who’s Driving The Bus? is along for the ride, so at the very least you’ll see some cool photos from each day’s action. Ooh, purty pictures.

We’ll be your eyes and ears on the ground, though we’re often so incompetent that it’s likely you’ll need glasses and a hearing aid. Let’s do this.

  1. Don’t forget your sunscreen, sunglasses and a bandanna (to wrap around your nose and mouth if the dust storms of 2005 show up again, which apparently ACL has better under control by soaking the grounds overnight). Have fun!
