Buried deep within Bill Husted’s Thursday column in the Denver Post is word that Athens, GA’s Widespread Panic won’t be bringing their New Year’s Run back to Georgia anytime soon…
Widespread Panic had such a great time at the Pepsi Center on Dec. 30 and 31, they’re coming back. Often. Insiders say the band will be back for the next four years for New Year’s concerts at the Pepsi Center. Of course, a lot can happen between now and then.
“All I can say is, I can’t say anything,” says Panic promoter Bill Bass. And here’s a fun fact. We hear the band broke alcohol-sales records at the Pepsi Center both nights. [HT – Chris Gorman]
Did you attend Panic’s NYE shows in Denver? What do you think about the possibility that the band will keep NYE out west for the next few years?

I think the Pepsi Center is where Widespread Panic belongs. Colorado is their new home!! The shows were fabulous and I can’t wait to see them again in our wonderful state! Red Rocks here we come!
Panic needs to bring it out west this summer
The sound was a little off at the Pepsi center shows. It sounded best in the middle, but up close or far back was muffled. I could barely hear Schools.
I hope the Phish fans don’t burn down my beloved Red Rocks, but WSP will be back to Morrison this summer. Just not in June.
