Lost Cubicle Chatter: The Package

Epic One Liner of the Week: I can’t seem to recall any real funny one liners from last night, but the episode does contain lots of dirty fodder to make up your own considering the name of the episode is The Package. Further, the Jin-Sun storyline centers around a pregnancy and Sun got shot in Jin’s little gunfight, leading to lots of corny jokes in the form of “at least he wasn’t shooting blanks.”

Lost An Hour of My Life Moment: As much as Kate can be painfully annoying on a routine basis, I can’t say I’m excited by the idea that she’s about to get dusted. Not only did Locke allude to needing her to get Jack and Sawyer to follow him off the island, but once that’s completed, “whatever happens, happens,” meaning he would allow Claire to kill her. The writers also seem to be setting the stage for some “sacrifices” next week. I think Kate should be on the show until it’s final hour. There are certain characters that shouldn’t die, and she is one of them.

Overall: Considering this episode served largely as set up for the Jin/Sun storyline, the episode was quite entertaining. Specifically, the plot lines twisted together amazingly well with the Sayid episode from a few weeks ago, whereby we first saw Jin restrained in the walk-in cooler.  Furthermore, Widmore began to emerge as a real hero in this thing, explaining very matter-of-factly that if the MIB and his cronies get of the island, that everyone they know and love will simply cease to exist. Gadoosh. Finally, the confusing finale set the stage for the huge episode next week as our favorite character is back, Desmond. Overall: B

Discussion Points: 1) Which Kwon do you reckon will be the candidate? I’m thinking it’s Sun based on her noticing the mirrors, particularly in the hotel room, which leads me to believe she’s the one being watched by Jacob. 2) What’s inside the package? I thought Locke’s body seemed like the obvious choice, but the obvious usually doesn’t get you very far with Lost. 3) So, if Sun was pregnant, presumably with Jin’s baby, what does that mean? Did Sun never cheat on Jin? Or does the baby actually belong to the Jae Lee from the Seoul Hotel? 4) Why does Jin even work for Sun’s father if they are not married?
