Stormy Mondays: Acoustic Mix VI

It’s time the next installment  in the ever-popular and ever-expanding Stormy Mondays Acoustic Mix Series. This is Volume VI if you’re keeping track at home, kicking off with Jorma Kaukonen from his truly excellent River of Time produced by Larry Campbell. Cracks in the Finish boasts Campbell on fiddle and legendary drummer Levon Helm killing the back beat.

Next is Campbell’s former collaborator Bob Dylan with Ring Them Bells from late 1993 in New York City, and then one of Dylan’s inheritors, Jackie Greene, with a real fine solo acoustic version of Uphill Mountain. Following that is a breathtaking and dead-on version of Neil Young’s Helpless from the late ’90s by Ryan Adams with help from Gillian Welch, and then a long, jammed out, utterly wild take on The Stones’ No Expectations from Yonder Mountain String Band. And finally to close everything out is a band that is deservedly getting a lot of press lately, Carolina Chocolate Drops, and a live version of their cover of Hit Em Up Style that is guaranteed to knock you out flat. So turn it up loud, and as always, enjoy!
