VIDEO PREMIERE: Jackie Venson Proves Tenacious Chops on ‘One Step Forward”

Austin-born indie/blues guitarist/vocalist Jackie Venson, released her live album, Jackie Venson Live on September 16, 2016.  The live record offers a raw follow-up to her 2015 studio full-length, The Light in Me and shows Vensons’s tenacity at the blues with a precision cut tone and heartfelt delivery that rivals few today.

Daughter of Austin music staple, Andrew Venson, Jackie’s early drive for music led her to Boston’s Berklee College of Music, where she picked up a guitar for the first time. Inspired by blues, R&B and pop artists alike, Venson draws on diverse influences ranging from Buddy Guy to Sade to Alicia Keys. In April of 2014, she was handpicked from over 2,000 entries by Southern retail chain, Belk, for their Belk Fashion Lounge concert series. Throughout the series’ five amphitheater performances, she supported famed country and southern icons Jason Aldean, Tim McGraw and James Taylor.

Glide Magazine is premiering the live video “One Step Foward” (below) off Jackie Venson Live, recorded at Strange Brew Lounge Side in Austin, TX. The video proves a sparkling document of this guitarist/singer’s gritty chops and why she’s such an authentic voice in the blues scene.

“I wrote ‘One Step Forward’ in one night while in Berlin,” says Venson. “The pressure was on because I had landed a recording opportunity at a prestigious studio and they absolutely wanted three songs. With two completed I had one more night to write another one. In the midst of social unrest and injustice in my home country, I felt ‘One Step Forward’ could be my battle cry for the insistence on awareness, integrity, individuality, and always living with love in one’s heart.”
