Big Audio Dynamite (B.A.D.), the original classic line-up anchored by founding members Mick Jones (of the Clash) and DJ/filmmaker Don Letts, will perform live in the states more than two decades after the group’s groundbreaking synthesis of rap and rock and hip-hop/club culture radicalized the world’s dancefloors beginning in the mid-1980s.
With B.A.D.’s prescient blend of street beats, dub bass, rocking guitar and swaggering samples finding currency in revolutionary dance/pop party circles of today, the original Big Audio Dynamite is returning to perform in America for the first time in more than 20 years. The band will be playing a select handful of must-see gigs including a highly-anticipated show at the sold-out Coachella Festival in Indio, California, on April 16.
The newly-reformed original B.A.D. will book-end its Coachella performance with a pair of US club gigs including an SRO show at the fabled Roxy Theater on LA’s Sunset Strip on April 14 and a gig at New York’s Roseland Ballroom on April 19. Sex Pistols guitarist/LA radio personality Steve Jones will be MC at the B.A.D. Roxy performance, which sold out by word-of-mouth within hours.
