Tales From The Golden Road: 79.5 Win Praise and Enjoy Life on Tour With Chicano Batman

Plenty of people go to see bands when they come through their town, but most people don’t think about everything that it takes to get those bands to their favorite club. Being on tour for a musician is both enlightening and daunting, as physically and mentally draining as it is stimulating. And no matter what, there are always stories to tell. In Tales From The Golden Road we let musicians tell their own stories of life on the road to get a behind-the-scenes, up-close look at what really goes down between each show.

Brooklyn outfit 79.5 have plenty to be excited about these days. Composed of “honeyed vocalists, street flautists, and psych guitarists”, the group are gearing up to release their new album Predictions on Big Crown Records. Their music is aimed at accomplishing two things: making you feel good and making you dance. It’s no surprise that they caught the attention of soul-psych group Chicano Batman, who have enlisted them to open their upcoming tour. The group are also collaborators and friends of Chicano Batman. We are excited to share dispatches from the road from this talented group as they traverse the country hitting venues and festivals alike…

This tour started in Atlanta, to a sold out crowd at The Earl! And as we worked our way up the east coast into the cold, away from the warm– the love in the Maroon Cocoon keeps getting warmer and more amazing. (The Maroon Cocoon is Matty’s van, the best road dawg in America!)

So much love from the audiences, our tour mates and from people on the way. Rad tour.

Nya and Piya backstage at our show in Chapel Hill, NC. What a lovely town and crowd! This was before pictures were taken with new fans at the merch table. This tour has been so sparkly, in voice and in dress.

The Adventure Time crew (aka Syd, Adrienne, Izaak, & Matty) of 79.5 having a toast before our D.C. show at the Rock and Roll Hotel! Good vibes in D.C., as the weather was amazing!

The show at the Rock & Roll Hotel was lit! D.C. is Nya’s hometown, so there was a lot of love in the room, for sure. Crowd was sold out again, and a lotta family in the house. Such a cool night. Dance party and toasts in the green room that night, for sure.

Inside the Maroon Cocoon, you can barely see the beauty that is this vehicle. But you can sure feel the love. Thanks Caleb our tour manager for shredding like a champ.

A few things that we’ve learned on this tour… always let the driver choose the music, make time to stop and get some nature, even 5 minutes of green grass can change the entire day, and eat as much fruit as possible!

Touring with 7 band members plus a tour manager can be hectic– best to chill out as much as possible. and talk very little if you’re singing as much as the singers have been.

Learn jokes. Lots of jokes.
