Moogfest Changes Name to Mountain Oasis Electronic Music Summit

The annual festival in Asheville, N.C., honoring the legacy of synthesizer pioneer Dr. Bob Moog has a new name and quite possibly a new time period with Moogfest becoming the Mountain Oasis Electronic Music Summit.
This particular turn of events has to do with licensing. Moogfest’s promoter, AC Entertainment, says Moog Music Incorporated declined to relicense the Moogfest name to the company.

We received a letter from them following this year’s festival, so we have no choice really but to re-name it,” AC Entertainment CEO Ashley Capps said. “We have enjoyed booking, marketing and producing our event for our fans and want to continue with them on this creative journey.”

Moogfest has seen its share of top-notch talent during the past three years. Brian Eno, Massive Attack, Richie Hawtin, Carl Craig, Orbital, Tangerine Dream, Thievery Corporation are just a few of the artists that have appeared at Moogfest.
