LISTEN: Bill Callahan Shares Intimate & Daring “Protest Song”

Experimentalist supreme Bill Callahan will be returning with another round of his signature tunes on the LP Gold Record out September 4th via Drag City.

Callahan’s latest offering, “Protest Song” details a singer-songwriter aghast at the unreality of the musical guest’s cartoonish protest POV on late night TV, leading to a protest song of its own kind. An apex of faux-noir, brooding in bluesy atmosphere up to his armpits, Callahan flies in a touch of Bowery Boys-style comedic elevation to let everyone in on the joke, through song.
