The Mother Hips will be releasing their second and third albums Part-Timer Goes Full and Shoot Out to streamin services with Blue Rose Music & Universal Music. Released on the legendary Rick Rubin’s American Recordings in 1995 and 1996 respectively, these two beloved Hips albums captured the sound of a rock and roll movement that was unlike anything happening at the time. Both records are coming out of the vault and will be available for fans to stream on July 24th.
“I am very excited to see these records available to the public once again,” said Greg Loiacono, band co-founder. “These were formative times in the band’s history and this music is particularly unique and defining.
“It took a long time to get these two records back to the fans,” said Tim Bluhm. “We are grateful that Joe Poletto and the team at Blue Rose Music were persistent and knew how much getting these records back out would mean to the entire Hips family.”
“Just like the fans, we embrace The Mother Hips story,” said Joe Poletto, founder of Blue Rose Music. “There have been many ups and downs for the band, but we are glad that they are still creating music and that we have the chance to enjoy these two important records again with them. This is something to celebrate.”
In the midst of a pandemic, the re-release of these two records to streaming after over two decades is great news. Hips fans and their extended music community can finally experience the power and vulnerability of the records that cemented the band’s name in California music history.
Part-Timer Goes Full and Shoot Out launched The Mother Hips into a reputable music career with spellbinding live performances, building a dedicated fan base and appearing on bills with the likes of Johnny Cash, Lucinda Williams and The Black Crowes.

If you’re new to the Hips, I suggest you start with Transit Wind on Shootout! It’s one of my all-time favorite songs. Perfect example of the band’s California Soul.
