Phish Revisit Great Woods 7/8/94 Gamehenge Show For ‘Dinner And A Movie’

The latest edition of Phish’s weekly archival video series Dinner And A Movie is a special one as the band will be debuting their historic 7/8/94 concert from Great Woods outside of Boston.

In addition to a strong second set anchored by monster takes on classics such as “You Enjoy Myself” and “Stash” (this standout version appears on A Live One), this show’s opening stanza features the final performance to date of the full Gamehendge musical saga, marking only it’s fifth appearance in Phish history.

Based around Trey Anastasio’s senior thesis The Man Who Stepped Into Yesterday, the Gamehendge saga revolves around the story’s protagonist, Colonel Forbin and his quest to rescue the Helping Friendly Book, a sacred document held in the clutches of the evil king Wilson.

While all of the individual songs comprising the fictional piece are still in Phish’s rotation, the odds of another full Gamehendge live performance occurring again are incredibly slim (it has been over 26 years since the previous outing…), so this footage is likely as close as most of us will ever get to visiting the mystical realm of Icculus.

The latest episode of Dinner And A Movie airs this upcoming Tuesday, August 4th at 8:30 p.m. EST on Live Phish or Phish’s official YouTube channel.
