LISTEN: Vox Rea Cruise Through Sunny Pop & Playful Throwback Sounds On “Reset”

Vancouver based Vox Rea is sisters Kate Kurdyak and Lauren Kurdyak with Kaitlyn Hansen-Boucherand Mitchell Schaumberg. Kate and Lauren lean on their classical background, featuring violin and piano respectively. Kaitlyn is an accomplished vocalist and all three of the women grew up singing in choirs together.

Check out the sunny new single “Reset” (below) from Vox Rea. A swaying melody rests over fluttering vocal harmonies while warm guitar riffs set a stage of considerable comfort. “Reset” is a song built on intuitive cadence and buttery tone. With cheeky modernity and throwback sounds, Vox Ray combines catchy vocal blending with colorful dynamics ala Feist and The Bird & The Bee.

On the track, the group notes: “Reset is a song about fresh starts and a new love for the beginning of 2021. It has a simplistic optimism that contrasts the more heavy songs on our record. It’s a song that doesn’t take itself too seriously and we had a lot of fun making it. Though we wrote it pre-pandemic, “you’re the cure I’ve been searching for” has really taken on a whole new meaning this year.”

The group reintroduced themselves with immediate reception last fall, garnering over 55K streams with their first two releases. Following their debut release “Dose Me Up”, sophomore single “Sinatra” enveloped the group’s abstract aesthetic, creating an ethereal space for listeners seeking an escape.
