2021 Grammy Awards: Brittany Howard, Billy Strings, Fiona Apple, Thundercat Among Winners

In what almost seemed a refreshing Grammy Awards – perhaps it was somewhat a return to live music with some nicely done live performances (Brittany Howard/Chris Martin and Haim) or just something that felt like a return to normal, things are slowly coming back.

This year’s awards (postponed since January) on the televised portion paid screen time to the artists that fall into the money-making marketing demographics (pop, country, hip-hop, and R&B), yet there were other award winners. Many of the deserving musicians had their awards announced prior to the pre-mentioned televised segment and got their trophies.

Of interesting note was watching The National’s Aaron Dessner receiving the Album of the Year award with Taylor Swift, which he collaborated with on Folklore. And it might be a stretch to consider Fiona Apple as “rock,” at least she got her due for her outstanding Fetch The Bolt Cutters.

Here is a list of the “other” winners – many of whom Glide has covered in the previous year.
