LISTEN: Alex Rahal Throws Down Cosmic Grooves On “Tapping On My Window”

Firstly known as the co-founder of the chameleonic, deep-grease funk, retro rock n roll band Them Vibes, Alex Rahal has been one of the principal songwriters in the band since its inception. Penning musical hip-shakers colored in heavy groove, deep riffs, and lyrics tinged in psychedelia with an attitude that bops with 21st century beat poetry.

With a dissonant acoustic guitar strum, Alex Rahal’s emotional and simultaneously uplifting new single, “Tapping On My Window” is spacious and flowing. Tinted by pulsing synthesizer and minimalistic drums sequencing, the track builds into a funky expression of syncopated grooves and Beatles orchestrations that sounds like Billy Preston jamming with Hiss Golden Messenger.

“As the world stood still, I made mine move through song. I’ve written for many artists, but the time was right to sing my own. I recorded this record in Nashville with the baddest cats on planet earth, including members of Them Vibes and Rude Music. I also had the privilege of producing this record with Bobby Holland and Larry Florman. Restless was made for the sole sake of art. My manager, Kim Paige, wanted the listening experience to be the same. So we decided to forgo Spotify, Apple, and all other DSPs, essentially cutting out the middleman. She created a unique space for the listener; one where the value of music is celebrated (alexrahalmusic.com). So far, the response has been resounding. We hope future artists will replicate this: free of fear, full in power.”
