Jacksonport is the solo imagination of singer-songwriter John Fatum, named for the small town in Door County, Wisconsin where he spent summers growing up.
With a tender touch to the guitar, Fatum muses poetically with ease on the new single, “Fresh Flowers.” Joined on the track by Sarah Jarosz, Tamsin Wilson (Wilsen), and Hannah Read, it is clear that Jacksonport is onto something very special on his stream of recent timeless and translucent releases. His voice is inclusive yet strong and full of depth, forging an organic and lush sonic background with friends around him. And isn’t that what life is all about?
“Sometimes I think of life as a series of doors closing and opening. In the “pandy,” it often feels like I’m staring at a bunch of closed doors. But we’re still here, and maybe the things right in front of our face are tiny doors opening and closing. We just haven’t noticed them before,” says Fatum.
