Waterfront Blues Festival announces its initial lineup of dozens of national and local blues, soul, funk and R&B artists for the 2022 festival, taking place at downtown Portland’s Tom McCall Waterfront Park, July 1-4. Early Bird tickets, the best price of the season and available in limited quantities, will go on sale Thursday, March 10 at 10am PST.

Celebrating a milestone 35th anniversary this year, Waterfront Blues Festival is among the most renowned, exciting and dynamic blues experiences in the world. As downtown Portland’s largest and longest running music festival, Waterfront Blues Festival is an unparalleled showcase for the region’s music community.

“For 35 years, Waterfront Blues Festival has inspired generations of musicians and music lovers,” says Peter Dammann, Artistic Director for Waterfront Blues Festival. “Whether it’s what you’re seeing on-stage with legendary performers who’ve defined the genre alongside up-and-comers who continue to push it forward, or in the crowd with fans who came to the festival when they were kids who are now bringing their own children- the entire weekend is a true celebration of the genre and everything it influences.”

Performers confirmed for the 2022 festival include Grammy-award winning Taj Mahal & The Phantom Blues Band, soulful folk heroes The Wood Brothers, New Orleans legends Galactic featuring Anjelika Jelly Joseph, international superstar Femi Kuti & The Positive Force, genre-busting funk band Lettuce, powerhouse soul duo The War and Treaty and more than a dozen others, with many more artists to be announced in the coming months.

After two years away due to the pandemic, Waterfront Blues Festival is returning ‘home’ to Portland’s gorgeous Tom McCall Waterfront Park for July Fourth weekend. The 2022 festival format will be similar to 2019 with four stages, taking over 8 acres of the park with plenty of room to roam, dance and enjoy the music.
