Billy Strings Finally Lays Down First Proper Red Rocks Headlining Show (PHOTOS)

Billy Strings and his rippin’ band kicked off the first night of their sold-out two-night run at Colorado’s famous Red Rocks Amphitheater on May 12th and man, was it a’rockin.

The band came out on fire hammering off one amazing bluegrass tune after another and getting the crowd into a wonderful vibe immediately by opening the show with “Away From the Mire” and “Long Forgotten Dream.”

Thursday was Billy’s first time headlining a Red Rocks show with fans in attendance (he performed at Red Rocks in 2020 for the Meet Me at Drive in series during September 2020) and he certainly didn’t disappoint his loyal fans.  Not only did he play a plethora of his own original material but also gave the audience some special moments with covers like “New Country Blues”, a Drew Emimit, and Billy Nershi jam, as well as  “All Time Low” a Widespread Panic cover to name just a couple.

Strings and his band featuring mandolinist Jarrod Walker, banjoist Billy Failing and bassist Royal Masat gave Red Rocks 21 songs and two masteful sets of music before their two song encore including “And Am I Born to Die” and “Y’all Come.”  There’s absolutely no doubt Billy and his band will be gracing the stage at Red Rocks for many years multiple nights for decades to come.
