The Killers Kick Off Tour With Intimate 02 Academy Show

The Killers are setting off on their headlining European arena tour starting next Tuesday (May 24). Before they start performing in front of tens of thousands of their fans, they needed a practice run. The band held a small show at the 02 Academy in Sheffield, a venue with a capacity of only 2,150 seats. This intimate show marked the band’s first live performance in the U.K. since their headlining spot at the famous Glastonbury Festival in 2019.  The show was originally announced on April 11th via the band’s social media

The setlist consisted of The Killer’s classic hits from their 2004 debut, spanning all the way to their 2021 album Pressure Machine. Fans were also treated to a Joy Division cover, Brandon Flowers did a rendition of their song “Shadowplay”. Although the tour is titled after their sixth full-length LP, Imploding The Mirage, the setlist is rich with tracks from their whole discography.

Overall, there was a feeling of gratitude from The Killers. Brandon Flowers took time to express his love for the U.K. and fans of the band as a whole. “It’s been a couple of hard years” states Flowers “There’s been a lot of separation, there’s been a lot of uncertainty. But there’s one thing I’m certain of: we are together tonight, so let’s do something about it.”
