LISTEN: Full Catholic Capture Crooning Introspection On Full Fledged “Traveling Song”

The original members of Full Catholic started out in various parts of the country writing/performing music in whatever time/capacity possible while pursuing other jobs, etc. The band recorded their first demos in an Atlanta living room and began playing out when they could, mostly for friends around sweaty late-night bonfires.

“Traveling Song”, an anthemic ballad off the latest release from Full Catholic, is Americana as it should be. A raw and vivid performance recorded live to tape, discovering its own strengths as it unfolds, warts and all, into a beautifully messy display of vulnerability, chutzpah, and rock and roll. The tight harmonies drip with an authenticity like those of The Band and Jagger/Richards as the band builds to a swirling climax by the song’s end. We’re guessing it’s a showstopper live, and on this recording, Full Catholic may have captured lightning in a bottle.

“I wrote the first version on guitalele on the floor of my best friend’s CO cabin while on an extended solo trip en route to Yosemite. I was awed by a devastating feeling of gratefulness at the time of writing. It’s a sort of all-encompassing love song, an ode to the wilderness, and to committing to discover what’s buried. As a band, we aimed to weave a soft spirit of crooning introspection into a rousing wholehearted call-to-arms.”
