LISTEN: BOWIE Makes Art Pop Done Right On Exploratory “Pale”

“Pale”, the latest release from German artist BOWIE, is a beautifully complex exploration of self-acceptance that mixes the sincere storytelling of Regina Spektor with lush arrangements of early Rufus Wainwright. The track’s slow but powerful ascent full of synths, brass, and eventually a choir, is a particularly impressive feat seeing as how it was recorded live in one take. “Pale” is art pop done right and an impressive glimpse into the rest of the EP titled THE UPSIDE DOWN, released November 25th.

“Pale” is about prejudice. About people judging others based on their appearance, origin, or other learned clichés or stereotypes. A superficial world in which individuality is suffocated by the permanent categorization and pigeonholing of people,” says Bowie.
