LISTEN: Party of the Sun Go Calm To Post Rock In Sweeping “Forget Me Knot”

Party of the Sun is a psychedelic folk band from New Hampshire, comprised of Ethan McBrien, Rory Hurley, and Garrett Cameron. Writing and recording in various nature-bound locations, such as a small New England sheep farm, the band has released four EPs and two full-length albums over the span of just a few years.

Be sure to take in the entire slow burn that “Forget Me Knot” has to offer. The first 20 or so seconds sounds like it could be an exhibit at a natural history museum, but suddenly there’s an intimately plucked guitar followed by a calm whisper-sweet voice singing, “What in the world is this?” This is: Party of the Sun. A wildly dynamic creative force coming out of New Hampshire is prolific in songwriting and genre-shattering. At about the halfway mark the last few words are sung as they blast us off into a melodic overture reminiscent of early Explosions in the Sky. Keep your eye out for the entire Capsule III EP Due out in February of this year.

“The guidance is letting go and the lost book is found, a journal of songs and moments I thought was gone for good came back today. Kernels of melody and poetry lost are rekindled as the first storm of winter wraps this mountain home,” says McBrien.
