LISTEN: Maita Drops Sincere Brevity On ” “Honey, Have I Lost It All?”

Once a song has seen a few hundred stages, a handful of musicians, and been produced and processed through dozens of mics and effects it can take shape quite differently than its original conception. Portland OR songwriter Maita intends to retcon that with her latest release “Honey, Have I Lost It All?” The first release of an entire album stripped back down to the way the song was conceived. The intimate nature of the recording and performance drives home the subject of tackling writer’s block and wondering if she’ll ever have IT again. With lines like “Honey, what if I lost it all?/ I tried to tease that sugar from every thought/ They pushed you around, you rose above/ now they twist their hands and call it love” it was possible to miss the personal introspective nature in the full band version, but here the song stands strong all on its own. Loneliness will be out sometime this year, but for now, go catch Maita on tour around the PNW later this month.
