LISTEN: Tomper’s “Baby Come On” Is Chill Wave Meets Soul Pop Preciseness

SLC’s Tomper may be pretty new to the radar, but with a strong showing of pop-forward production and songwriting on their new single “Baby Come On” it appears they’ll be around for a while. Opening with an attack heavy electric piano with heavy tape warp sounds on it becomes the throughline for the track. Joined by plucky bass, tasteful drums, and driven guitar with a sweeping attack on all of its leads. Halfway through you’re treated to a great sax solo that is unexpected and perfectly placed at the same time.

“This song is a song I wrote as a letter of encouragement to my partner (as well as myself), after falling into a funk about finishing songs together and releasing music. A lot of our friends are prolific artists and musicians that are much more talented than us, we just got a little envious of that, but ultimately we discovered that it’s all just a good time writing and playing music with our friends.”
