LISTEN: Leon In The Wild Takes On Post-Punk Sensiblities With Chunky “Quite Covers Up A Lot”

With a vintage indie flair, Leon in the Wild brings us an original take on post-punk sensibility with “Quiet Covers Up A Lot.” Layers of chunky guitars and strong melodic vocals reminiscent of early Weezer summertime hits lay over a dynamic rhythm section. Pop-punk may have had its heyday in the early aughts, but with tunes like this, it’s easy to see that the draw for it is far from gone. Go check out the whole three-song EP that just dropped.

As with all of my music, this song was written and recorded in a tiny room near the beaches of California.  For this EP, I was really trying to blend together my biggest influences from the 60s, 80s, and 90s… an odd crossroads of fuzzy indie pop with woozy melodies and lyrical content that has some depth.  I wrote down the line “quiet covers up a lot” after it came up in a discussion with one of my best friends.  It’s such a simple line and sentiment, but I just couldn’t stop thinking about it and how applicable it was to so many aspects of my life… holding in feelings and thoughts to the detriment of my mental health and the people around me.
