LCD Soundsystem Kick Off 2023 Tour at Red Rocks (RECAP)

For their first live performance since their residency at New York’s Brooklyn Steel in December 2022, LCD Soundsystem took over Red Rocks last night (May 29) for night one of their two-night stay. The James Murphy-led sonic shapeshifters spent the better half of 2022 performing in smaller venues for extended stays and festival appearances and their appearance at Red Rocks marked their first shows of 2023. The band was in full swing as they pieced together a setlist that explored every corner of potent discography.

In a blaze of electronic-dance glory, LCD Soundsystem kicked things off with the fan-favorite “Us v Them”. The opening track, which is lifted from their stellar Sound of Silver LP,  was joined by “All My Friends”, “New York, I Love You But You’re Bringing Me Down”, and “Someone Great” from the same album. Murphy then marched the band into a wide array of selections including their latest release, the 2022 single “new body rhumba” along with classics like “Yr City’s A Sucker”, “Dance Yrself Clean”, and “Losing My Edge”. LCD Soundsystem also dove into their 2017 album with a performance of “tonite” from the album. You can check out the full setlist below.

LCD Soundsystem will be joining Jamie XX, Big Freedia, and L’Rain on the new traveling Re:Set concert series. The band will be headlining one of the three nights of the mobile festival which will make stops in cities like Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, and plenty more. Murphy and company will be joined by co-headliners Steve Lacy and Boygenius on this traveling festival, the biggest of its kind in quite some years. Check out the full dates for the Re:Set series and footage from LCD Soundsystem’s Red Rocks performance below.
