The Jersey-born and Florida-bred virtuoso known as Yeek has announced his new album along with an infectious single. Future Reference is set to be released on August 25 and its preceding singles have been nothing short of mind-altering takes on the relationship between pop and electronic music. “$$$$” is the latest offering from the upcoming LP and has Yeek traversing a minimal drum pattern while switching between repetitive hooks and soulful verses.

Yeek debuted back in 2015 with a sound that already separated him from his peers. A guitar turns into something magical when placed in the hands of Yeek, his signature rhythms and love for hip-hop allowed him to give the bedroom pop scene a facelift. We saw him take a departure from that sound in 2021 with Valencia, an LP of experimentation that gave us muddy drums and gentle harmonies, introducing us to a new side of Yeek. This year, it seems the artist is taking the lessons learned on his last album and applying them to that sound he discovered in his earlier projects. Along with “$$$$”, Future Reference will also feature the Paris Texas-assisted single “ETA2”

With two incredible singles and a release date cemented, Yeek could be gearing up for his best album yet. “$$$$” is the perfect marriage of where the artist was and where he is heading, a combination that sounds better than we could’ve imagined and one we hope to see explored more on Future Reference

Watch the video for “$$$$” below and look out for Future Reference on August 25.
