Perhaps the least heralded of the three Kings of the blues, Albert was arguably as influential on future generations as his namesakes Freddie and B.B. Little wonder the now-deceased impresario Bill Graham, in his usual pursuit of widening the musical palette of his Fillmore audiences, booked Albert for numerous dates at his famed venues: one of the high marks of this King’s career. The Live Wire/Blues Power album, was recorded at the West Coast location in 1968, leftovers from which were released on the two Stax Records companion pieces Wednesday Night…and Thursday Night in San Francisco.
