Hattie is a singer-songwriter-harpist.
Leonard Cohen called her first solo album To The Bone “Flawless, uplifting and utterly original”.
In their band ‘The Webb Sisters’, sisters Hattie and Charley have released three albums, receiving ‘Single and Record of the Week’ on iTunes and BBC Radio Two. Their song “Baroque Thoughts” won The International Music Award for ‘Best Adult Contemporary Song’ and was produced by multiple Grammy Award winner Peter Asher.
The Webb Sisters were chosen by Leonard Cohen to be in his band on his international comeback tour, performing over 400 concerts around the world to 4 million people between 2008 and 2013.
Hattie has previously collaborated with Sting, Gotye, Glen Hansard, Steve Martin & Edie Brickel, Rick Rubin, The Avett Brothers & Natalie Maines, and is featured on five of Leonard Cohen’s albums, also playing for HRH Queen Elizabeth II and The Spanish Royal Family at The Prince of Asturias Awards.
In 2017 Hattie and Charley joined Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers singing with them on their 40th anniversary tour.
In early 2019, Hattie and Charley recorded with The Lumineers on their new record III and went on to perform with them at The O2 Arena in November. The Webb Sisters received the 2019 Maynooth University Ireland Award for Arts and Culture.
Hattie is currently working on her second solo album Wild Medicine in collaboration with Mike Campbell, Ron Blair, Roscoe Beck, Stephen Barber, Patrick Leonard and Paul Kelly.
Today Glide is excited to offer an exclusive premiere of the standout track “Golden” along with its music video. The song finds Hattie delivering a delightfully fun work of infectious pop-rock that puts her lush vocals in the spotlight while still leaving plenty of sonic space for her to layer in her harp playing. Inspired by that feeling of falling head over heels in love, the song feels radio-ready and could surely be a smash hit. If the kind of legendary musicians who have brought Hattie into the studio and onto the stage aren’t already a giveaway, this tune is also a reminder of Hattie’s immense talent as a musician, lyricist, and vocalist. The video captures her enthusiasm and radiance as she dances onstage and backstage, plays her harp, and seems to be genuinely joyous in bringing this song to the world.
Hattie describes the inspiration behind the song:
“‘Golden’ is about the first full flush of the feelings of love. When they begin to emerge in real time and how it feels with that heady kind of bliss with hope mixed in rushing through one’s body and heart at a pace. While Ben (Cullum) and I were writing, we were mulling on a few musical ideas, then had a whiskey shot soupçon! As we felt a warmth pulsing through our veins, these riffs on harp and electric guitar came ebbing through. I dreamed back to a time on tour with Leonard Cohen, when I was falling in love with a pilot from Canada, the words came as the sensations spoke as viscerally as they felt back then.”
