LISTEN: NOTHINGHEADS Blend Gothic Tones With Punk Fury On “BLINDSPOT”

London garage punk powerhouse Nothingheads drop new single “Blindspot” and announce debut album The Art of Sod. Having built up a reputation on the UK’s underground live circuit since forming in 2021, Nothingheads make guitar-driven soup that falls somewhere within dark post-punk and garage punk. Static noise flashes as big riffs and snarling vocals cut through the dirge. Following last year’s EP Sunlit Uplands, the band will release their debut album.

Through a dense forest of heavy guitar riffs and thumping drums, Nothingheads delivers a dark yet refreshing performance on “Blindspot.” While the title suggests an invisible point of view, the band borrows from many walks of life to find the menacing tones and eerie vocals on display. The band took punk tropes and added a blend of gothic tones and modern post-punk to land on this neck-breaking sound that sticks with you long after the song ends, and it feels like it goes by too quickly. Nothingheads creates a warping, equally welcoming, and challenging atmosphere at just over two-and-a-half minutes. By seamlessly mixing their vast array of influences with their youthful perspective, Nothingheads crash lands on a refreshing sound in punk while nodding to the genre’s history.

“We wanted to write something that expressed the sadomasochistic satisfaction of anger outbursts,” explains the band. “The howl of walking into a door frame and trying to make sense of the news, slightly painful, no idea who to blame, and somewhat confusing.”
